Its one of the most irritating problems that you can have. When you have to deal with clogged or plugged up ears it can drive you insane. The amount of pressure that is put on you and your ears is very uncomfortable. For some reason, my entire life I have had this problem and my ears get plugged up very often. I have come up with a handful of home remedies for clogged ears that work very well. You can test each one out and see which one works best for you.
These home remedies for plugged up ears are from a mixture of different sources. My grandmother taught me a few of them and the rest I found online when doing some research. So I won’t make you wait any longer here are five quick remedies that you can start today!
Six Home Remedies For Plugged Up Ears
This is by far the most important and effective of the home remedies for clogged ears. Clove oil will be a lifesaver for you and your uncomfortable problem. Just add a couple of drops inside your ear and let it sit. You should find relief within just a few minutes. If it comes back you can just repeat the process as many times as you need to. I always keep a bottle of clove oil around with me because for some reason my ears get plugged up constantly.
2.Apple Cider Vinegar
I do not even know how many times I have mentioned apple cider vinegar on this website. It has to be the most widely known remedy on the internet. The amount of different uses that this stuff has is pretty incredible. So far the best way I have found to use this stuff for clogged ears is actually pretty simple.
- Grab a cotton swab and just dip it in apple cider vinegar.
- Use the cotton swab like you would normally to get out ear wax.
- Repeat the process as many times as you want until you start to feel your ears pop
The apple cider vinegar will help kill pretty much any bacteria growing in your ears. Not only that but It will also help clean out some of that ear wax that has been clogging up the inside of your ears.
3. Hydrogen Peroxide
I would only use this as one of the home remedies for clogged ears. I would not suggest you teach your children about this because the should not be handling hydrogen peroxide it can make them very sick if ingested. So leave it to the adults. This remedy is quite simple. All you need to do is grab yourself a small bowl and fill it up with half a cup of water. Add in one or two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and stir it up really good. Grab an eye dropper and fill it up with this mixture and squirt it into your ear. It’s best to do this when you are laying down. Let it sit in your ear for about a minute and drain it. Do this as many times as you wish until relief is achieved
This one might seem a little bit odd but it worked for me a couple of times and I was actually pretty surprised. The easiest of all of the home remedies for plugged up ears. Literally, all you need to do is chew some gum. Sounds pretty simple right? It really is that easy. Sometimes just adding pressure to your ears can help them pop and feel much better. It does not matter what flavor you have although peppermint is always my favorite gum.
5. Steam Shower
If you have tried all of these and for some horrible reason you still have a problem. If none of the above remedies worked for you, you can always try a very hot shower. Just like when you have a cold or sinus problems. Steam can be a massive help in relieving pressure in your sinuses and congestion. Usually, this is the last resort for me because I can not stand hot showers. For me, I do not like it but it is one of the more effective home remedies for clogged ears. Just take a shower with the hottest water that you can possibly handle. Sit in the shower for as long as you can stand and most of the time you will find relief.
6. Warm Towel Compress
This usually helps in relieving pressure in your ears. It has not let me down and always seems to make me feel a little bit better. Use a small hand towel and soak it in warm water. Lay down in a comfortable position and add the warm compress to your ear. Let it sit there until it begins to get cold and repeat the process. If you want you can also add a little bit of peppermint or clove oil to the rag as well!
Talk To A Doctor!
Did none of these actually help you with your plugged up ears? Well, this is where I would suggest getting some sort of professional help. You never know if there could be some sort of severe infection. It could turn out to be life-threatening so you should always be safe about stuff like this. Visit your local doctor and see what is going on. Your doctor is probably going to have more information for you than I do.
